Our hearts are with you during this time, and it is our mission to stand beside women like you, offering compassionate support when it’s needed most.

Help Her Thrive was created to provide financial assistance to women in St. Lucia who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Whether you need help covering the cost of medication, diagnostic tests, surgery, or transportation to care, our goal is to ease your journey so you can focus on healing.

We also want to help as many people as possible, but in order to ensure a fair and transparent process to access support, we have set some guidelines for applicants who are seeking support.

Applicants must:

  • Be a woman currently residing in St. Lucia

  • Have a verified diagnosis of breast cancer

  • Be actively undergoing or preparing for treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or prescribed medications)

  • Demonstrate financial need (either through a basic application or a referral from a medical/social worker)

  • Be under the care of a registered oncologist or medical institution in St. Lucia or abroad with documented treatment plans

What is covered?

Whether you are just starting your cancer journey or near the end, there is always help needed. These are the different costs we help with:

  • Diagnostic tests (biopsies, imaging)

  • Chemotherapy or radiation sessions

  • Surgery costs
  • Medication (hormonal therapy, pain relief, etc.)
  • Transportation or accommodation if treatment is off-island

  • Wigs, prosthetics, or bras post-mastectomy

There are some costs we do not cover:

  • Non breast cancer related treatments

  • General living expenses (e.g., rent, groceries)
  • Cosmetic procedures
  • Private concierge/alternative therapies without medical documentation

Funding Limits and Requirements

  • Maximum of EC $5,000 per applicant per year
  • Funds may be paid directly to hospitals, pharmacies, or travel/accommodation providers when possible
  • Repeat funding considered only upon review and demonstrated continued need

Other considerations

Since we have just started on our fundraising journey, we anticipate having more requests than we can initially fund, so we will be prioritizing funding based on the following criteria:

  • Single mothers or primary caregivers
  • Stage of cancer (i.e., Stage I-III may be prioritized if funds are limited and treatments are more curative-focused)
  • Young women (e.g., under 45)—often overlooked and often have more aggressive cancers
  • No insurance coverage or public assistance
  • First-time applicants vs. repeat requests
